Porsche 718 Boxster S
With the 2016 generation, the Porsche Boxster turns into the Porsche 718 Boxster. The three-digit figure is a reference to Porsche’s great mid-engine racing and sports cars of the 1950s and 60s. Like those classics, the new 718 Boxster is powered by compact, lightweight and efficient four-cylinder flat engines. These newly designed units combine the advantages of downsizing with sporty performances thanks to turbocharging. With variable turbine geometry VTG, the turbocharger of the 718 Boxster S generates high torque from low revs. Maximum output grows by 35 hp. The steering adapted from the Porsche 911 Turbo and bigger brakes round off the package. The body of the 718 Boxster is 80 percent new, lower and wider. Overall, the design retains the classical Boxster proportions combined with enhanced aerodynamics.
