Porsche Cayman S
A good four decades after the last street-legal mid-engined 904 Carrera GTS and 906 Carrera 6, Porsche presents the Cayman S to the public in November 2005. Like its forebears, this mid-engined sports car is designed for high agility and performance. The coupé body based on the Boxster S impresses with high torsional stiffness and sophisticated aerodynamics. The flat-six mounted between the rear axle and the cockpit delivers a high performance over a broad rev band thanks to VarioCam valve-lift adjustment. The sporty suspension setup and the brake system with inner-vented and perforated discs turn the Cayman S into a Porsche that specialist journalists honour as the “World Performance Car” at the New York International Auto Show in April 2006.
