Porsche’s memory

The Historical Archive

Two kilometres of files, 2.5 million photos and slides, 4,000 books and 1,700 hours of film footage – the Historical Archive of Porsche AG houses all the important information with an economic, technical, social or cultural reference to Porsche AG. It does not just do this to fill dark storage rooms, but in order to prepare the knowledge relating to the brand for history-related PR work and to share this with Porsche fans around the world. This is done by means of own publications as well as by communication of historic content at exhibitions, auto shows and events. Every year, staff at the Porsche Archive deal with over 6,000 enquiries about development, motor sport and the company’s history from in-house departments, journalists, academics and authors. The archive is also an important resource for legal issues. If necessary, it is possible to check on things that happened in the past where necessary. This is because the archive is the memory of Porsche AG.
