The Tournament Directors

A strong team lies behind the success of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. It is headed by Markus Günthardt as the Tournament Director and Anke Huber as the Operating Tournament Director.

Markus Günthardt, who competed on the ATP Tour from 1978 to 1985 and was a Davis Cup player for Switzerland, has been the Tournament Director since 2005. After a playing career in which he reached a high of number 40 in the doubles, he has remained in the game in various capacities. First as the tournament director of the Eurocard Open and ATP Tour World Championships, later as a consultant to the Turkish Tennis Association that organized the WTA Championships staged in Istanbul from 2011 to 2013. His worldwide experience is also sought after on the Board of Directors, a kind of WTA supervisory board. Together with his wife and children, he lives in Madrid and Switzerland.

Anke Huber has been the Operating Tournament Director of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix since 2002. The former world number 4 played the stand-match of her career in 1995 when she faced Steffi Graf in the Masters final. One year later she reached her only Grand Slam final at the Australian Open.
